serviceability POLICY*

All pianos have their charm. However, some are vastly more difficult to service than others. When you combine age, neglect, poor engineering, and difficulty sourcing replacement parts, some can be a technician's worst nightmare.

As such, I am no longer accepting new clients with the following pianos:

  • Antique uprights and grands manufactured before 1940 (unless they have been rebuilt or restored).
  • Player pianos that operate with a vacuum system (both foot pump and electric motor style).
  • Square grands.
  • Spinets manufactured before 1970. A spinet is a very short upright piano (usually around 36" tall) where the internal action parts have been dropped below the level of the keys to keep the piano short in stature.

If you are unsure whether a piano falls into one of these categories, or if you'd like to request an exception, send me a message using the contact form below and I'd be happy to discuss your situation further.

*This policy applies to new clients only. If you own one of these pianos and I have serviced it before, I will continue to provide you the same level of service you've come to expect.
